Bharatpur, also known as Lohagarh, is a beautiful city
of Indian state Rajasthan. This is regarded as Eastern Gateway to the state. Bharatpur is mainly renowned for its stunning Keoladeo
National Park which is named as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites in India. This
well-fortified and impregnable city was founded back in 1733 by Maharaja Suraj
Mal. The trio of Deeg, Dholpur, and Bharatpur has outstanding contribution in
the Rajasthan’s history.
City Bharatpur is bound on the east by Agra and Mathura
of Uttar Pradesh, on the south by Karauli and Dholpur, on the north by Gurgaon
and on the west by Alwar. Jaipur is on its southern west corner. As per a
popular saying, the name “Bharatpur” come from the word “Bharat”, the name of
the brother of king Rama. The city was under Jats during the 17th
century.

where plenty of birds of different species
are available, the Keoladeo National Park which is also known as Keoladeo
Bird Sanctuary is a must visit place for you. The park is mostly known for the
arrival of rare Siberian Crane birds during the February.
Although Bharatpur is mostly known for its Keoladeo
National Park, it has lot other tourist attractions including Lohagarh Fort, Bharatpur
Palace, Bharatpur Excursions, Banke Bihari Temple, Govt. museum, Islam khan
Tomb, St. Luke's Church, Ganga Temple, Jama Masjid, Laxmi Temple
etc, thus, it is regarded as one of the popular tourists destinations in
Rajasthan. Actually it is a very small but historically and naturally enriched
city of Rajasthan as compared to other cities.
Bharatpur doesn’t have any international airport. The
nearest airport from Bharatpur is Agra International Airport. Bharatpur is well
connected with Agra, Mathura, Jaipur and Delhi by rail and bus transport
services.
